Pacers at Bulls: Money on the Floor, April 1, 2026
Back in July, the Pacers ruled Haliburton out for the 2025-26 season shortly after the star point guard underwent surgery to address the Achilles tendon he tore in Indiana's loss to Oklahoma City in Game 7 of the NBA Finals. While the Pacers' stance with Haliburton doesn't appear to have changed amid a non-contending season, the 25-year-old is seemingly coming along even faster than anticipated during his rehab process. If Haliburton is able to advance to 5-on-5 work by the spring, he'll likely be in line for a relatively normal offseason and should be free of restrictions for the start of training camp next fall.
Nembhard will be held out of Wednesday's contest after appearing in each of Indiana's last five games. His next chance to suit up will come Friday in Charlotte. With T.J. Mc Connell (hamstring) also sidelined, Kam Jones, Taelon Peter and Quenton Jackson are candidates for expanded roles.
This is a major blow to Indiana's frontcourt. Based on the timetable for healing, the Pacers didn't feel like Zubac would be 100 percent in time for the remaining games, and with nothing to play for, they have no incentive to rush him back.
Nesmith is sidelined for a second consecutive contest with a cervical strain and was a very limited practice participant Tuesday. His absence opens up more playing time for Ben Sheppard, Quenton Jackson and Kobe Brown to soak up Wednesday.
The veteran floor general's next chance to return arrives Friday, when the Pacers take on the Hornets in Charlotte. The door is open for each of Kam Jones, Quenton Jackson and Ethan Thompson to claim a more prominent role at point guard Wednesday.
Walker will be sidelined for a second straight game and did "very little" at practice Tuesday according to coach Rick Carlisle. His absence is likely to open things up for Kobe Brown and Jalen Slawson.
Furphy started in 21 of 35 regular-season appearances for the Pacers, posting averages of 5.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.7 three-pointers in 18.4 minutes per contest. While no timetable has been announced, Furphy's absence could extend through the beginning of the 2026-27 season. With this news, the Pacers will likely lean more on Ben Sheppard, Kam Jones and Quenton Jackson moving forward.
