Markkanen has dealt with both a right hip impingement and a sprained ankle since he last played Feb. 23, though the hip injury has been the lingering issue. The star forward's next opportunity to play will come April 3 against Houston. However, there's a very real chance that the Jazz will shut him down for the remainder of the season, as they'll have only five games remaining when he's slated to be re-evaluated. Andersson Garcia, John Konchar (quadriceps) and Blake Hinson are candidates to see increased minutes for as long as Markkanen remains sidelined.
This is a tough news for Utah's newest addition. Jackson is likely to undergo further evaluation, but fantasy managers should be prepared for the worst.
Nurkic came back from the All-Star break with a nose injury, and he's opting for a procedure to repair the issue. The 31-year-old big man is set to be an unrestricted free agent ahead of 2026-27, and he should receive plenty of interest on the open market this summer after averaging 10.9 points, 10.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.3 steals in 26.4 minutes per contest through 41 games this season. With Nurkic's campaign over, the runway is clear at center for Kyle Filipowski to handle a starting role the rest of the way.
George is slated for another absence while rehabbing from a right hamstring strain. The Jazz have yet to provide an update on his injury, so he can be considered doubtful for Saturday's game in Phoenix until further notice.
This will be Collier's fifth straight game on the sidelines, and it's not an encouraging sign that he continues to get ruled out 24 hours in advance of tipoff. Given the tricky nature of hamstring injuries, it wouldn't be surprising to see Collier spend the remaining two-plus weeks of the season on the inactive list. Until Utah provides a meaningful update on where Collier is in the rehab process, he should be considered week-to-week.
