This means that Gilgeous-Alexander will miss at least the next five games for the Thunder, which could elevate the newly acquired Jared Mc Cain to a prominent role as Oklahoma City goes into the break. Mc Cain, Ajay Mitchell, Cason Wallace, Aaron Wiggins and Isaiah Joe will all help fill the void while Gilgeous-Alexander is sidelined and Chet Holmgren should see a sizeable uptick in usage.
Mitchell will miss a 10th consecutive contest due to an abdominal strain and remains without a clear timetable for a return. The second-year guard should be considered doubtful for Thursday's game against the Bucks until Oklahoma City offers an update on his status. With Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (abdomen) also unavailable, Cason Wallace, Jared Mc Cain and Isaiah Joe are candidates for increased playing time.
