Knicks at Pistons: Money on the Floor, February 6, 2026
Towns was downgraded from questionable to doubtful for Friday's game due to a laceration above his right eye that he sustained during Wednesday's double-overtime win over the Nuggets. The veteran big man will end up being sidelined for the first time since Jan. 2, and his next chance to play is Sunday against the Celtics. Mitchell Robinson will likely start at center against Detroit and Ariel Hukporti should see more minutes off the bench in Towns' absence.
Anunoby was initially listed as probable for Friday's contest, so the downgrade casts some doubt on his availability. If he's unable to play, it would mark his first missed game since Dec. 23.
Alvarado was acquired by the Knicks from New Orleans at the trade deadline Thursday. It sounds like his debut won't happen until Sunday against Boston, however. With Miles Mc Bride (abdominal) sidelined indefinitely, Alvarado is expected to slot in as the backup point guard behind Jalen Brunson.
After missing New York's last five games due to what the team called left ankle injury management, it has been revealed that Mc Bride is dealing with a sports hernia. The 25-year-old guard is without a clear timetable for a return, but he shouldn't be expected to return until early April at the very earliest. With Mc Bride sidelined, Tyler Kolek, Jose Alvarado (recently traded) and Jordan Clarkson are candidates for increased playing time.
