Mitchell appears to be receiving a maintenance-related absence Friday. Sunday's matchup versus the Wizards is his last chance to appear during the regular season. Keon Ellis and Dennis Schroder should see a boost in playing time in the Cleveland backcourt Friday.
The Cavaliers are gearing up for the postseason, so Allen will take the night off Friday. With Thomas Bryant (calf) also sidelined, Evan Mobley will presumably slide over to the middle, with Larry Nance expected to see more action from off the bench.
Merrill will be held out of Friday's contest due to left hamstring injury management. His final chance to suit up in the regular season will come Sunday against the Wizards. With Donovan Mitchell (ankle) also out, Keon Ellis, Craig Porter and Tyrese Proctor are candidates to see increased playing time.
Bryant is in line for a third straight absence as a result of a left calf strain, and the fact that he continues to be ruled out a full day ahead of game action isn't a great sign. He'll have one final opportunity for regular-season action Sunday against Washington.
