Butler suffered a season-ending ACL injury Jan. 19 against Miami, and he's since gone under the knife so that he can begin the recovery process. It's promising news that the procedure went as expected, though it's still too early to try to predict a timeline for Butler's return. The Warriors stated that an update on his progress will be disclosed early in the 2026-27 campaign.
The diagnosis ends Moody's season, and he'll require a long recovery period. Through 60 regular-season appearances, the fifth-year swingman averaged a career-high 12.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 steals in 25.7 minutes per game. With Moody's campaign now over, De'Anthony Melton and Gary Payton should continue to help pick up the slack in the Golden State backcourt down the stretch.
Horford has missed the Warriors' last 11 games while tending to a strained right soleus. Although the veteran's return date remains a mystery, he appears to be moving in a positive direction, recently participating in portions of Saturday's practice. The team indicated he will be re-evaluated "early next week," suggesting there is a chance he will return Tuesday versus Sacramento. With Quinten Post (foot) also sidelined, head coach Steve Kerr will presumably lean on Kristaps Porzingis and Draymond Green to handle most of the work in the middle.
Post is working his way back from right foot soreness, which has already cost him Golden State's past three contests. With Post and Al Horford (calf) both sidelined, the lion's share of the center minutes should fall onto Kristaps Porzingis and Draymond Green for the time being.
An illness will keep Cryer out of Sunday's game, and for now, he should be considered questionable for Tuesday's meeting with the Kings. Pat Spencer should be more involved in the rotation Sunday with Cryer unavailable.
