Morant won't return this season but is expected to make a full recovery ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. The star point guard will finish this season with averages of 19.5 points, 8.1 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 28.5 minutes per game across just 20 regular-season appearances. The Murray State product continues to be plagued with injuries and has appeared in just 79 regular-season games over the past three years. With Morant sidelined the rest of the season, Walter Clayton, Cam Spencer and Javon Small (back) will likely continue seeing increased burn.
Caldwell-Pope is expected to make a full recovery ahead of next season and holds a $21.6 million player option for 2026-27. He'll finish this season with averages of 8.4 points, 2.7 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 21.3 minutes per contest across 51 regular-season games (14 starts). Cam Spencer, Walter Clayton (calf) and Jahmai Mashack are candidates to see an uptick in minutes due to Caldwell-Pope being sidelined for the rest of the campaign.
Aldama, who has not appeared in a game since Feb. 4, will undergo a season-ending procedure to address his right knee injury. The fifth-year pro set career highs in points per game, rebounds per game and minutes per game this season, averaging 14.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 27.9 minutes per contest across 43 appearances. He is expected to make a full recovery.
Out For Season
B. Clarke
Clarke has been sidelined since Dec. 20 after suffering a Grade 2 calf strain. The Grizzlies conducted a re-evaluation of the Gonzaga product's injury, and it was determined that while he's making solid progress, he won't be ready to return in the next few weeks, effectively ending his 2025-26 campaign. The team expects that he'll be ready for the start of the 2026-27 season.
This will be Jerome's seventh straight game on the sidelines, and it's not encouraging that he continues to get ruled out 24 hours in advance of tipoff. After Sunday's match, the Grizzlies will have just four games remaining on their schedule.
Since he's already been in rehab mode and was ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery March 3 to address ongoing discomfort and bone stress in his left ankle, Edey opted to get his aching elbow taken care of with another procedure. Edey is expected to make a full recovery from both the ankle surgery and elbow procedure prior to the start of training camp. Before being shut down in mid-December due to the ankle issue, Edey looked to be in line for a second-year breakout, as he had converted at a 63.3 percent clip from the field and posted averages of 13.6 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.9 blocks, 1.1 assists and 0.6 steals in 25.8 minutes per game over his 11 appearances. The Grizzlies view the 7-foot-3 big man as a key building block and will plan for him to settle back in as their starting center in 2026-27 so long as he's able to stay healthy.
Coward will receive a maintenance day on the frontend of a back-to-back set to rest his ailing back, which could result in a spot-start for Rayan Rupert. For now, Coward should be considered questionable for Monday's meeting with the Cavs.
Spencer is in danger of missing his second straight game, which could result in major minutes for Adama Bal. Check back for official word on Spencer's status closer to Sunday's tipoff.
Pippen was without a return timetable after initially being diagnosed with the injury, which was likely related to the surgery that caused him to miss the beginning of the campaign. The Grizzlies have no incentive to rush him back, so this move isn't surprising. It's unclear what Pippen's offseason will look like, but he should be back to full strength by training camp next season. He'll finish his third campaign in Memphis with averages of 11.4 points, 4.7 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.9 steals across 10 appearances (six starts).
As expected, Jackson has been downgraded from doubtful to out and will miss his first matchup since March 20 while tending to left knee soreness. His next opportunity to take the court will arrive Monday against the Cavaliers.
Wells will miss the rest of the 2025-26 campaign after undergoing a procedure to repair a tendon avulsion fracture, although he is anticipated to "make a full recovery" ahead of the 2026-27 season. The 22-year-old appeared in 69 games in his sophomore season, starting all of them, finishing with averages of 12.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.1 blocks and 0.9 steals while shooting 43.1 percent from the field and 35.3 percent from deep across 26.4 minutes of work.
Mashack picked up this injury Friday against the Raptors and was unable to return. His next chance to play comes Monday against the Cavaliers for the second leg of this back-to-back set.
Small is going to miss the front end of this back-to-back set, and it's likely maintenance related. If that's the case, he could be back to face the Cavaliers on Monday.
