Morant won't return this season but is expected to make a full recovery ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. The star point guard will finish this season with averages of 19.5 points, 8.1 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 28.5 minutes per game across just 20 regular-season appearances. The Murray State product continues to be plagued with injuries and has appeared in just 79 regular-season games over the past three years. With Morant sidelined the rest of the season, Walter Clayton, Cam Spencer and Javon Small (back) will likely continue seeing increased burn.
Caldwell-Pope is expected to make a full recovery ahead of next season and holds a $21.6 million player option for 2026-27. He'll finish this season with averages of 8.4 points, 2.7 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 21.3 minutes per contest across 51 regular-season games (14 starts). Cam Spencer, Walter Clayton (calf) and Jahmai Mashack are candidates to see an uptick in minutes due to Caldwell-Pope being sidelined for the rest of the campaign.
Aldama, who has not appeared in a game since Feb. 4, will undergo a season-ending procedure to address his right knee injury. The fifth-year pro set career highs in points per game, rebounds per game and minutes per game this season, averaging 14.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 27.9 minutes per contest across 43 appearances. He is expected to make a full recovery.
Out For Season
B. Clarke
Clarke has been sidelined since Dec. 20 after suffering a Grade 2 calf strain. The Grizzlies conducted a re-evaluation of the Gonzaga product's injury, and it was determined that while he's making solid progress, he won't be ready to return in the next few weeks, effectively ending his 2025-26 campaign. The team expects that he'll be ready for the start of the 2026-27 season.
The Grizzlies injury report remains extensive. With Cam Spencer (back) doubtful and Walter Clayton (ankle) questionable, Javon Small and GG Jackson may see most of the minutes in the backcourt, with extended action potentially on tap for De Jon Jarreau and Rayan Rupert.
Hendricks will take a seat for Saturday's contest. His absence should mean more opportunities for Rayan Ruper and Tyler Burton off the bench, while Olivier Maxence-Prosper and GG Jackson handle the brunt of the minutes at the power forward and center positions
Since he's already been in rehab mode and was ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery March 3 to address ongoing discomfort and bone stress in his left ankle, Edey opted to get his aching elbow taken care of with another procedure. Edey is expected to make a full recovery from both the ankle surgery and elbow procedure prior to the start of training camp. Before being shut down in mid-December due to the ankle issue, Edey looked to be in line for a second-year breakout, as he had converted at a 63.3 percent clip from the field and posted averages of 13.6 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.9 blocks, 1.1 assists and 0.6 steals in 25.8 minutes per game over his 11 appearances. The Grizzlies view the 7-foot-3 big man as a key building block and will plan for him to settle back in as their starting center in 2026-27 so long as he's able to stay healthy.
As expected, Spencer will miss Saturday's contest due to lower-back soreness, and his next opportunity to play will come Monday against Phoenix. The Grizzlies will be extremely shorthanded against Chicago, so Rayan Rupert, Jahmai Mashack (ankle / nose) and De Jon Jarreau will likely see increased minutes.
Pippen was without a return timetable after initially being diagnosed with the injury, which was likely related to the surgery that caused him to miss the beginning of the campaign. The Grizzlies have no incentive to rush him back, so this move isn't surprising. It's unclear what Pippen's offseason will look like, but he should be back to full strength by training camp next season. He'll finish his third campaign in Memphis with averages of 11.4 points, 4.7 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.9 steals across 10 appearances (six starts).
Wells will now miss his third consecutive game. With Cam Spencer (back) and Taylor Hendricks (thumb) on the injury report, and Jahmai Mashack (ankle / nose) already ruled out, Cedric Coward and Rayan Rupert may see the most minutes at the three spot Saturday.
