Fantasy managers shouldn't read too much into this report. According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Cunningham was diagnosed with a mild collapsed lung and is expected to miss an extended period of time. Shams noted that a return for the postseason could be on the table, so fantasy managers should prepare to be without him for the remainder of the regular season. In the meantime, Daniss Jenkins figures to remain in the starting lineup with guys like Ausar Thompson and Marcus Sasser taking on larger roles.
This isn't a surprising update, given that Pistons head coach J.B. Bickerstaff said Sunday that Stewart didn't have a return timetable. Bickerstaff also said Stewart has been dealing with the issue recently, but it worsened, so they opted to shut him down. Until Stewart is cleared to play, Paul Reed, Javonte Green and Ronald Holland are candidates for increased roles off the bench.
This will be Sasser's second straight game on the sidelines, and with Wednesday's game versus the Hawks being the first of a back-to-back set, it wouldn't be surprising to see Sasser spend at least one more game on the inactive list. Caris Le Vert and Kevin Huerter will have a chance for some extra minutes with Sasser unavailable.
