This is a brutal setback for Orlando and for Wagner's fantasy managers. The Magic will re-evaluate Wagner in three weeks, putting his earliest possible return date at March 11. The Magic will proceed with caution, however. In his his absence, players such as Anthony Black, Noah Penda and Tristan da Silva could take on larger roles.
Carter was a late addition to the injury report due to left ankle soreness and will miss his first game since Jan. 11. With the big man sidelined, Moritz Wagner and Jonathan Isaac are candidates for increased minutes, while Goga Bitadze could enter the rotation. Carter's next opportunity to play will come Thursday against Dallas.
The reported earlier in the day that Black appeared unlikely to go, and he's since been downgraded to out. It appears Tristan da Silva will be in line for another start in Black's place.
