Wizards at Hawks: Money on the Floor, February 26, 2026
Davis is "progressing as expected," but a return in the near future appears to be off the table. A previous report from Chris Haynes on Feb. 6 indicated that Davis will likely sit out the remainder of the season, and that is looking increasingly likely.
The star guard is ramping up his on-court activities during his recovery from a right knee MCL sprain and right quadriceps contusion, but his Wizards debut isn't imminent. Until Young is finally ready to suit up again,Bub Carrington and Tre Johnson should continue to see a boost in ball-handling responsibilities on the other side of the All-Star break.
Sarr sat out Wednesday's 138-113 loss to the Cavaliers with what the team had classified as right hamstring tightness, but follow-up tests confirmed that the second-year big man is dealing with a strain. As a result of the injury, Sarr will sit out the Castrol Rising Stars exhibition at All-Star weekend in Los Angeles, and he'll likely miss at least a handful of contests coming out of the All-Star break. Tristan Vukcevic (illness) joined Sarr on the sideline for Wednesday's loss, but Vukcevic will likely be ready to fill in for Sarr as the Wizards' starting center in the team's next game Feb. 19 versus the Pacers.
Out
D. Russell
It sounds like Russell will not be a part of the team in D.C., and this situation could be headed towards a buy-out. Russell fell out of the rotation in Dallas and became a throw-in in the Anthony Davis deal, but there doesn't appear to be much of a market for the veteran point guard.
A "venous condition" is any disorder that affects the veins, but we'll likely have more clarity on precisely what Whitmore is dealing with at a later date. Whitmore will end his 2025-26 season with averages of 9.2 points and 2.8 rebounds per game on 46 / 29 / 74 shooting splits.
George has frequently missed time for the Wizards, and his latest injury is a knee contusion. With George sidelined, the team is likely to lean more on Justin Champagnie and Will Riley.
