Giddey is sidelined for a fourth contest in a row with the injury. The star guard's next chance to play comes Thursday in Toronto. Ayo Dosunmu should handle a more pronounced role in the Chicago backcourt until Giddey is cleared to return to action.
The Celtics have been linked to several centers around the NBA, and they finally found their guy. Vucevic and Simons are both on expiring contracts, making this an easy sell for both clubs. Vucevic will likely supplant Neemias Queta in the starting lineup in Boston, but he may see less usage with his new squad. Vucevic can be considered questionable to debut against the Rockets on Wednesday, as Tuesday's game against Dallas is out of the question.
Collins suffered a significant right big toe sprain in late December, and he's not expected to shed his walking boot until late January or early February, at the earliest, per Johnson. Collins' absence has meant more minutes for Julian Phillips and Patrick Williams.
The deal appears to be centered around Jaden Ivey and Mike Conley joining the Bulls, but Huerter should also play a significant role with Detroit. With Ronald Holland, Javonte Green and Caris Le Vert all healthy, however, there's plenty of competition for playing time on the wing. Huerter has averaged 8.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.6 three-pointers in 22.2 minutes per tilt in his last eight games.
The No. 12 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Essengue's rookie season comes to an end with just two brief appearances to his name. The Bulls had a plan to bring him along slowly, to be clear, and he showed a lot of promise in four G League appearances with averages of 23.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.3 three-pointers.
Out
D. Saric
Saric had just joined Chicago this past weekend following a trade from the Kings, but now he won't have a chance to make his Bulls debut. The veteran big man last appeared for Sacramento back on Dec. 20, so it's unlikely the Pistons have a meaningful role in mind for Saric upon his arrival.
Phillips was added to the injury report as questionable after picking up a right wrist sprain, and he's since been ruled out for Tuesday's clash. His absence shouldn't have much of an impact on the rotation considering Chicago's frontcourt is otherwise healthy.
