Avdija has been dealing with back tightness of late and was unable to return to Thursday's win over Miami after exiting early in the third quarter. His next opportunity to suit up will come Monday against the Celtics. With the 25-year-old forward unavailable, Sidy Cissoko will likely see increased playing time.
Lillard underwent surgery on a torn Achilles tendon in his left foot over the summer after suffering the injury during the first round of the NBA playoffs with the Bucks against the Pacers. The veteran guard was then waived by Milwaukee on July 1, making him an unrestricted free agent. The future Hall of Famer then decided to return to the Blazers on a three-year contract worth $42 million with a player option for the 2027-28 season. He also has a no-trade clause in his deal.
Williams will be inactive Friday as part of left knee injury management. In nine January appearances, the big man is averaging 5.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.1 blocks in 15.8 minutes per contest. With both Williams and Duop Reath (foot) sidelined, Yang Hansen could slot in as Donovan Clingan's backup at center.
Thybulle, who is recovering from thumb surgery, is also dealing with knee tendinitis and he continues to get ruled out a day in advance of tipoff. Until the Trail Blazers update us on Thybulle's recovery, he should be considered out indefinitely.
Friday is marking a ninth consecutive absence for Murray, The forward carries no timetable for a return, making him doubtful for Monday's matchup in Boston.
A fifth metatarsal fracture is a notoriously tough injury to recover from, and there's a high chance of experiencing a setback if brought back too soon, so it wouldn't be shocking to see his absence extend beyond this 12-week window. At minimum, he'll be out through the end of December, so he can safely remain on the waiver wire in fantasy leagues.
Reath will sit out Friday due to right foot soreness. The 29-year-old hasn't held a steady rotation role this season, averaging 8.1 minutes across 32 appearances, though his absence is more notable with Robert Williams (knee) also ruled out. With both sidelined, Yang Hansen may be asked to handle reserve center minutes behind Donovan Clingan.
