Jokic, who was initially given a four-week re-evaluation timeline, is "right on schedule, if not a little ahead of schedule," Charania said. If he can return around late January or early February, that would allow him to be eligible for the NBA's awards, such as the All-NBA Teams and MVP race.
Murray will be sidelined Friday while managing right hamstring inflammation and left hip inflammation. He's been on a tear offensively, averaging 29.7 points, 6.3 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals over the past six games. Jalen Pickett and Bruce Brown are in line to absorb additional responsibilities, with Murray's next chance to play coming Sunday against the Grizzlies.
Johnson is still recovering from a bone bruise in his right knee and hasn't played since Dec. 23. The 29-year-old forward was initially given a re-evaluation timetable of four to six weeks, though it appears likely he'll be re-evaluated closer to the back end of that timeline. He should be considered week-to-week until the Nuggets offer an update on his progress.
Out
J. Valanciunas
Valanciunas returned from an 11-game absence due to a right calf strain in Thursday's win over Washington, though he'll be held out of the second leg of this back-to-back set. The veteran big man's next opportunity to play will come Sunday against the Grizzlies. In the meantime, Zeke Nnaji will likely see increased minutes, while Da Ron Holmes could enter the Denver rotation.
The Nuggets have now ruled out Braun in seven consecutive games without a single upgrade on his status. Given that he hasn't received a questionable tag since Jan. 11, Braun appears to be out indefinitely.
Watson is dealing with a right ankle strain and a left ankle sprain, and he'll miss his first game since Dec. 20. His next opportunity to play will come Sunday against the Grizzlies. With the 23-year-old forward unavailable, Tim Hardaway, Spencer Jones, Hunter Tyson and Julian Strawther are candidates to see an uptick in minutes.
